Rescue Committee:
The Great Dane Club of Mid-South, Inc. is a ‘passive rescue’. This means, we do rescue by referral. We maintain a list of available Great Danes, and a list of people looking to adopt Great Danes. We then put them in touch with each other. (See our disclaimer below.)
Generally, an owner who needs to place their dog in a new home will keep the dog while we place its name on our 'available' list. E-mails are sent out whenever a new Dane is added to our available dog list. If you are in a time crunch to rehome your Dane, you may want to contact another rescue group (we have attached some links to other rescue web sites).
If an adopter is interested in a particular dog, then they work out any adoption details directly with the person placing the dog. There are no time limits for listing a dog with us so you may see the same names for a few months.
If you have a Dane that you would like to place on our ‘available list’, please e-mail the following information to Connie Adams:
- Dog's Name, Sex, Color, Age, (Birth date if known)
- Good with kids? Cats? Other dogs?
- Housebroken? Crate Trained? Current on shots?
- On monthly heart worm & flea treatment? (heart worm negative?)
- Any fun tidbits or anything else (including picture) you would like to include in description?
Plus:
- Owner's info: Name, e-mail, daytime phone, home phone, city located (any other info a potential adopter needs to know)
If you are looking for a Dane to join your family, please e-mail Connie Adams with your contact information and what you are looking for in a new family member, and she will e-mail you the list of available Danes that we have.
If you don’t find one on the list we provide you, you may contact one of the rescue groups we have provided links to, to check on what’s available with them, as well as www.petfinder.com
